Dons To Represent Latvia at Eurovision 2024

Latvia’s journey to select its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has culminated in a thrilling victory for the talented artist Dons. Emerging triumphant from the intense competition of ‘Supernova’, Dons has secured the honor of representing Latvia on the grand stage in Malmö with his captivating song ‘Hollow’.

The final showdown of ‘Supernova’ on February 10 showcased a formidable lineup of contenders, each vying for the coveted ticket to Eurovision. Following a semi-final that narrowed down the field, Dons faced off against nine other finalists in Latvia’s national selection event.

The outcome was decided through a combination of public vote and jury verdict, with Latvian television viewers contributing 50% of the scores and a specially selected jury providing the remaining 50%. With an electrifying performance and a standout song, Dons emerged as the clear winner, earning the opportunity to represent Latvia at the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest.

Dons, a highly accomplished musician in Latvia, boasts an impressive musical career, having released nine albums to date. His accolades include winning national radio song polls and receiving multiple Music Recording Awards. Collaborating with Universal Music Group since 2021, Dons has garnered attention with notable singles such as ‘Pēdējā vēstule’, ‘Pāriet bailes’, and ‘Salauzta sirds’.

The victory at ‘Supernova’ marks the ninth edition of Latvia’s national final since its inception in 2015. Over the years, winners of ‘Supernova’ have captivated Eurovision audiences, with artists like Aminata, Justs, and Samanta Tina achieving acclaim on the international stage.

Latvia’s history at Eurovision spans memorable moments, including a victory in 2002 and hosting the competition in Riga the following year. Despite challenges in past years, Latvia’s revamped national selection process has led to renewed success, with standout performances in recent editions of Eurovision.

The Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place in Malmö, Sweden, with the first semi-final on May 7, the second semi-final on May 9, and the grand final on May 11, 2024.
