The Portuguese broadcaster RTP has confirmed that the country will participate in the competition via Instagram, which will be held in Malmö, Sweden.
This will be Portugal’s 55th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has won the competition twice, in 1975 and 2017. Portugal’s most recent participation was last year, when Mimicat finished 23rd with the song “Ai coração”.
RTP has announced that Portugal will select its entry for Eurovision 2024 in the Festival da Canção. There will be two semifinals and the grand final. The dates are still to be announced, but the free song submition has begun! Portugal is a popular country at the Eurovision Song Contest, and its return is sure to be welcomed by fans of the competition. I can’t wait to see who Portugal selects to represent them in Malmö next year!
The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest will be held from 10 to 14 May in Malmö, Sweden. This will be the third time that Sweden has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, after 1975 and 2016.
I’m sure Portugal will be looking to add to its list of successful Eurovision entries in 2024!
