Besa Kokëdhima to Represent Albania at Eurovision 2024

Albania has chosen its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, and the honor goes to Besa Kokëdhima, who emerged triumphant at the prestigious ‘Festivali i Këngës.’

The four evenings of musical competition unfolded with various artists vying for the coveted Eurovision ticket. The overall best song, determined by a jury, went to Mal Retkoceri with “Çmendur.” However, it was Besa Kokëdhima’s compelling performance of “Zemrën N’dorë” that won the hearts of the public, securing her the opportunity to represent Albania in Malmö.

Shpat Deda claimed the third position with “S’mund Të Fitoj Pa Ty,” while Tiri Gjoci secured the runner-up spot with “Në Ëndërr.” The best newcomer award was bestowed upon the Peter Pan Quartet for their song “Edhe Një Nerë.” Martina Serreqi clinched the Critic’s Choice accolade with “Vetëm Ty.”

Besa Kokëdhima’s victory at Festivali i Këngës means that “Zemrën N’dorë” is likely to be Albania’s entry for Eurovision 2024. While revamps are possible, the final confirmation is expected in 2024.

Notably, last year’s overall winner at Festivali i Këngës was Elsa Lila with “Evita,” selected by the juries. However, the act earning the right to represent Albania at Eurovision had to secure victory through the public vote, leading to Albina & Familja Kelmendi winning the ticket to Liverpool with “Duje.”

Festivali i Këngës, with its 62-year history, is one of Europe’s longest-running and esteemed competitions. Originating on Albanian radio in 1962, the festival has evolved into one of Radio Televizioni Shqiptar’s most innovative shows, affectionately known by fans as ‘FiKmas’ due to its traditional broadcast slot during the holiday season.

With 31 acts competing, Besa Kokëdhima success at Festivali i Këngës sets the stage for her journey to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 7 (First Semi-Final), Thursday, May 9 (Second Semi-Final), and Saturday, May 11 (Grand Final) of 2024. Music enthusiasts and Eurovision fans can now eagerly anticipate Besa Kokëdhima’s performance on the grand Eurovision stage.
