Eurovision Song Contest 2025: Cities Are Preparing Bids To Host

With Switzerland’s Eurovision victory still fresh, the race is on to find a host city for the 2025 contest. A dedicated SRG task force sprang into action just three weeks ago, highlighting the tight timeframe for organizing this massive event.

Their first priority was adapting the European Broadcasting Union’s “City Bid Book” to the Swiss context. This document outlines the requirements any potential host city must meet. While the specific cities vying for the honor remain undisclosed, they are free to make their bids public. The task force is keeping the City Bid Book itself confidential.

Cities now have a tight deadline – the end of June – to collaborate with venue operators and local authorities to craft their bids based on the City Bid Book. The winning city is expected to be announced by late August. The contest itself will be held in mid-May 2025, with the exact date still to be determined.

In parallel to the city selection process, the task force is busy assembling the project’s core team. This includes roles like executive producer, production head, show producer, and marketing director. They’ll benefit from the EBU’s experience and recommendations in this crucial phase. The team will consist of SRG employees, EBU experts, and eventually external specialists. As mentioned in this article, the cities that showed interest are Basel, Geneva, St. Gallen and Zürich.

The task force emphasizes that speed shouldn’t compromise quality. Their goal is to ensure a smooth and successful Eurovision 2025 for Switzerland and all participating countries. So, Eurovision fans, stay tuned! The race to host the 2025 contest is on, and the anticipation is building as Swiss cities prepare to showcase their capabilities.
