The Netherlands’ Joost Klein gets DISQUALIFIED from Eurovision 2024

Malmö, Sweden – Dutch Eurovision entrant Joost Klein has been questioned by Swedish police following an allegation of threat made by a female TV crew member. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening and the complaint was filed yesterday. We know now that Joost Klein has been disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

According to the police, Klein was questioned late last night, as was the person who filed the complaint. The case has now been referred to the public prosecutor, who will determine the next steps. The resolution of the case could take weeks.

The Netherlands gets disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. NPO boss Frederieke Leeflang met with broadcaster AVROTROS and the EBU to discuss Klein’s participation. She arrived at Joost Klein hotel in Malmö this morning.

Klein’s Eurovision Journey

  • Klein performed in the semi-final last Thursday.
  • On Friday afternoon, he was barred from participating in a rehearsal at the last minute. It was later revealed that an investigation was underway into an “incident” involving the artist. The organization did not want to comment further on the matter.
  • In the evening, Klein was also prevented from participating in the jury show, where professional juries award points to the artists.
