Slimane Releases “Mon Amour” as France’s Entry for Eurovision 2024

French singer and former winner of “The Voice,” Slimane Nebchi, known simply as Slimane, has been announced as France’s representative for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in 2024, set to take place in Malmö. This revelation was accompanied by the release of his entry, “Mon amour” (My love), introduced during the evening news bulletin on France 2. The song, co-written by Meir Salah, Yaacov, and Slimane himself, marks his participation in this highly anticipated musical event.

Slimane’s musical journey began with humble origins. Born to Algerian parents in Chelles within the Greater Paris Region, he initiated his musical pursuits by sharing cover songs on YouTube back in 2009. However, his breakthrough into the public spotlight arrived after securing victory in the fifth season of the popular French singing competition, “The Voice: la plus belle voix,” in 2016.

His debut album, titled “À bout de rêves” (At the end of dreams), achieved immense success, obtaining a double platinum certification in France. Following this triumph, his subsequent three albums consecutively clinched the number one position on the charts in France, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the French music scene.

France’s recent history in Eurovision has been a mix of performances, with the most recent entry by La Zarra singing “Évidemment” in Liverpool. Despite performing sixth in the Grand Final running order, the overall result landed France in the 16th position, gathering a total of 104 points from both the public vote and the Jury (50 points from the public and 54 points from the Jury).

As Slimane prepares to represent France on the Eurovision stage with “Mon amour,” fans and enthusiasts eagerly anticipate his performance and the song’s potential reception on the international platform. The artist’s participation in Eurovision 2024 is expected to be a highlight, marking another chapter in his already illustrious music career.
