Will “Ramonda” become Serbia’s path to Eurovision glory, or will it get lost in the shuffle? Let the investigation begin!

Omar:

This year’s Eurovision glitters with pop and dance anthems, but Serbia’s “Ramonda” captivated me differently. In the initial listen, it felt like a solitary mountain flower amidst a field of neon roses. But then came the national final. Her voice, a haunting melody that wrapped itself around the historical weight of the song. Suddenly, “Ramonda” was a story whispered by the wind, a testament to a nation’s unwavering spirit.

The song itself is a slow burn, each verse building like embers catching fire. The lyrics, referencing the exodus of the Serbian army in World War 1, painted a picture of despair and loss. Yet, Teya Dora’s voice held a flicker of defiance, a quiet strength that mirrored the resilience of the Ramonda flower, the quiet strength that blooms even in the darkest of times.

And then came the explosion. It wasn’t a pop explosion, mind you, but an emotional one. The final line, “A single purple Ramonda rises from the ashes,” wasn’t just sung, it was a declaration of hope, a promise whispered from the ashes of war.

Score: 9/10

Sahand:

Lost and adrift, Teya Dora’s voice pierces through the smoke in “Ramonda,” Serbia’s mesmerizing Eurovision entry this year. “There is no one to guide me. Towards the bright morning star Danica, the world is burning, every flower as well.“ The pre-chorus is just one part of the song that represents its dark mood, captivating as a midnight sky. Yet, beneath the sorrow, a flicker of hope ignites. Re-watching her electrifying national final performance after listening to the studio version for weeks made me realize: Teya Dora’s vocals are a revelation, possessing a power that transcends mere volume, wrapping themselves around the listener like a bittersweet melody. On top of that, the dark and mysterious staging translates the song’s mood just perfectly. I’m really excited to see how they want to elevate that even more in May.

While the semifinal slot number 2 might seem like a burden by statistics, Serbia is ready to continue rewriting the narrative just as Armenia did last year. “Ramonda” is a masterpiece, a haunting ballad that transcends language barriers with its raw emotion. The song, voice, stage presence, and overall concept coalesce into a perfectly calibrated performance. Frankly, anything less than qualification would be a shock. But “Ramonda” deserves a shot at the crown. A Top 10 finish feels within reach, and even victory wouldn’t be a surprise. In such a competitive year, anything lower might be acceptable, but it wouldn’t reflect the song’s brilliance.
